Prescott: Past and Present

The early economy of the Prescott area was largely based on cattle ranching and mining. Today, Prescott is well known for its impressive historic district, which includes the famed Whiskey Row. Whiskey Row is known for the many saloons that once lined the street during the late nineteenth century. In July of 1900, a tragic fire destroyed a great deal of Prescott's commercial district. However, within only hours, residents began rebuilding the city, beginning with makeshift shelters that were erected on Prescott's Courthouse Plaza. Most buildings in the downtown area were reconstructed from brick, providing Prescott with a rich architectural legacy. Prescott takes great pride in its historic preservation, featuring 525 buildings that are included on the National Register of Historic Places.

Prescott Real Estate is known as Arizona's most Midwestern-looking city, and features several beautiful historic Victorian homes, peaked roof homes, Prescott luxury homes, and Prescott condos. These homes drastically differ from the adobe structured-homes that are so prevalent in the southwestern United States region, and this is a factor that helps set Prescott apart from other Arizona communities.
